This blog is the PhD blog of Marianne van den Boomen. It is meant to keep me writing, sharing my stuff, and learning from others.
I work as a junior teacher-researcher at the Department Media and Culture Studies (University of Utrecht, Faculty of Humanities/Arts) at the department New Media & Digital Culture. The new media staff teaches several new media courses for BA-students TFT (Theatre-, Film- and Television Studies) and CIW (Communication and Information Studies), and provides the MA New Media & Digital Culture.
I teach the following courses:
- Filosofie van Media en Communicatie (BA)
- New media, new citizenship (BA, Eng.)
- Network Theory (MA, Eng.)
The blog is called Meta BlogNote, because it is about the meta level of working on a PhD, but also because it is about metaphors, which is my main subject.
My supervisors are Prof. Dr. Jos de Mul, philosopher of ICT at Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Prof. Dr. Christina Slade, philosopher of communication at Macquarie University, Sydney. Dr. Sybille Lammes is my daily coach/co-supervisor.
The blog is partly in English (with Eng. in the title) and partly in Dutch.
The blog is managed by WordPress, and licensed under the Creative Commons.

via minitrue hier gekomen. tijdens studie digitale communicatie is mijn interesse gewerkt voor sociale aspecten van ict/ publieksparticipatie / internetgemeenschappen.
werd bij ons gedoceerd aan de hand communities on the web, van amy jo kim. ik zag dat jij ook een boek uitgebracht hebt. heb de digitale versie gevonden maar vroeg mij af of het nog te koop is/ wat het isbn nr ervan is.

Het ISBnummer 90-6473-389-9 maar ik weet niet of het nog verkrijgbaar is. Je zou kunnen proberen het te bestellen bij de uitgever, het Instituut voor Publiek en Politiek, tel. 020 5217600.
Jouw reactie (’het is online, maar waar kan ik het bestellen?’) bewijst maar weer eens wat ik al jaren roep tegen mijn uitgever: ‘Heus, het online beschikbaar maken kannibaliseert de verkoop echt niet!’
